Hi everyone,
I work at New York Cares, and you
can bid to win the following, and
support a great charity!
Winner and guest are responsible for
transportation to and from London,
England and Abbey Road Studios as
well as all related expenses. All
materials relating to the recording
session (including but not limited
to hard drive and/or tape) as well
as musicians or backup music must
be provided by the winner. Winner
must pay in full for any additional
time over and above the eight-hour
block, which must be pre-arranged
with Abbey Road Studios. Scheduling
is subject to availability.
EMI's Abbey Road Studios is quite
simply the most famous recording studio
in the world. It was immortalized
by The Beatles who recorded their
classic songs at Abbey Road and also
named their final record after the
Studios. Most of the world's major
artists have recorded at Abbey Road,
including in recent times U2, Kanye
West, Radiohead & Green Day.
You can come to Abbey Road for a full
8 hour day's recording. We will
provide a highly experienced engineer
to help you.

Anyone here heard of GrimSkunk (the
band) or Indica (their label)? They’re
this awesome hard rock/punk band from
Montreal, Canada that have been around
since the ‘80s and they started Indica
in ’97 for themselves and to sign
other up and coming groups.
they just released a new album called
Fires Under the Road, first single
"America Sucks" and I recently
read that they're playing in Toronto
at lee's palace on Dec. 16th,
$13, starts at 10pm.
Awesome. I’m definitely going and
if you’re in the city you should check
em out.
Anyway, it got me thinking. what does
commitment to artistic freedom really
mean? lots of bands claim to have
it but are signed to huge, very hands-on
labels. especially with rock/punk
music, it seems pretty contrary to
sing about f**king the system while
collecting checks and taking direction
from rich record execs whose main
focus is the bottom line.

I really need someones help here
so if anyone can help it would be
so much appreciated. After emailing
many various places, writing long
letters and making many phone calls
I am still nowhere with this one.
I need to make contact perhaps by
email with the Great Tommy Roe concerning
my Family Tree which he is a part
of. I have emailed Marz Talent his
Agents but they are of no help or
wonthelp although they say they have
emailed him? I have heard so many
nice stories about Tommy Roe and feel
sure if he knew of my quest he would
be only too pleased to help.

Several years ago a rock band by
the name of Meringue opinion (later
known as Sonic Nation) played gigs
around the Sheffield & Chesterfield
areas. They played with the likes
of Elfin, Rootjoose, Bez, The Bendy
Monsters, October Country etc but
sadly split several years ago.
A website has now been launched where
you can listen to the bands demo's,
see press photo's and gig photo's
and generally get involved through
message boards and other stuff...
Anyway I think you should check it
out wether you heard of the band or
not - you may be quite impressed.

Thanks for listening.

Oswald's song "Speak out"
could be an anthem for this generation
talking about UK rock band - "Oswald"
from Glasgow Scotland
"Speak out and shout you're
not alone!"
sometimes a band comes along and writes
a song that makes you want to stand
up - and yell - thats ' what the
lyrics of Oswalds songs "Speak
out " tell us to do
- stand up and speak out- about whatever
injustice you see - you're not
alone
search artist - Oswald and song "Speak

it makes you want to do something
about your life or the world - isn't
that the power of great music ?

The Glitterati & Gemini Five
Hit Nottingham! 17-11-2006
|
|
|
|
| From: Michelle
Riot |
E-mail: |

The 17th of November promises to
be night to go down in Rock ‘n’ Roll
History as two of the genre’s finest
exponents combine to set the stage
alight at Nottingham’s Junktion 7.
The Glitterati – http://www.theglitterati.com
– Who are the Glitterati? Kerrang!
calls them "a stadium rock band
done garage style." NME proclaimed
them "brash and brilliant."
The Sunday Times said they carry the
swagger of Thin Lizzy and the glamour
of Ziggy-era Bowie. The Guardian says
their songs are "strong enough
to propel them into the big league."
They are The Glitterati. A rock band
so good that the producer of Guns
N Roses world-beating Appetite for
Destruction album chose to work with
them. A band endorsed by GNR/Velvet
Revolver star Slash. A band with self-belief
bordering on outright cockiness, who
believe they can be the biggest and
the best in the world. A band who
to quote Kerrang! again "look
like God¹s gift to the stage and sound
utterly honed for success." In
short, a band that matters.
Gemini Five – http://www.geminifive.com
- Gemini Five's strong material
and heavy-catchy songs combined with
their flamboyant-in-your-face-attitude
makes them undefeatable. They create
a heavy duty sound and their performance
is ultra-heavy-cool-rock&roll.
Their debut Babylon Rockets was released
all over Europe, Japan and South America
in October 2003. Their first single
You spin me round (like a record)
listed as no.19 at the Swedish single
charts May/June 2003. The second coming
'Black:Anthem' was released
on September 2nd 2005 and landed at
No. 8th on the Swedish sales charts
the very same week. If you needed
any more proof that the water in Stockholm
is 50% Jack Daniels – Gemini 5 is
it!
If this wasn’t enough for you we are
also very proud to present our supporting
bands…
Disarm – http://www.disarm.info -
Formed in the back waters of South
Yorkshire, England, Disarm have been
playing loud, heavy, sleazy, fast,
punk-tinged, bulls**t free rock 'n'
roll since 2005. Focussing on playing
kick ass music that they believe in
rather than going along with any trends
has always been their main objective,
aiming for a raw modern sound that
disassociates them from the current
resurgence of 80's hairspray style
bands. Their new ep, 'By Any Means
Necessary' has been called "one
of the most confident, brash and streetwise
collection of tunes I’ve had the pleasure
of listening to in a long while"
(hardrockhouse.com) while their live
shows are praised for "rip(ping)
through...fast n furious trash punk
stormers without a moments slip in
momentum" (Bubblegum Slut fanzine).
Disarm will continue to always do
things their own way, making no concessions
or compromises along the way for anyone.
Catch them before they die!
Crystal Kicks – http://www.crystalkicks.tk
- Dirty, Riff-Heavy Rock n' Roll
is brought back to life by Scottish
Rollers Crystal Kicks. Unhappy with
the lack of loud guitars, pounding
drums and leather-clad rockstars this
Dumfries-based band are out to change
the music scene back to the way it
started out using the influences of
Backyard Babies, The Ga*Ga*s and Motley
Crue to guide them on their way ripping
up venues near you!
Riot Promotions are thrilled to bring
you this amazing show – honest, good-time
Rock ‘n’ Roll is coming back to Nottingham
with a ROAR!
The doors open at 9pm and tickets
are just £8 in advance, £10 on the
door!
For advance tickets please see our
website at http://www.theriot.org.uk

Are you in or near Los Angeles?
This Saturday, come see special guest
monologist PHIL VARONE (Skid Row,
Saigon Kick) perform with the Upright
Citizens Brigade in ASSSSCAT. One
night only!
Saturday August 5, 2006 8pm $8
Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre-
Los Angeles
5919 Franklin Blvd.
Los Angeles, CA 90028
http://www.ucbtheatre.com/la/
323-908-8702
Cast: Matt Besser (UCB), Ian Roberts
(UCB), Matt Walsh (UCB), Sean Conroy
(Crossballs), Andrew Daly (MADtv)
and Andrew Secunda (Late Night with
Conan O'Brien), plus special guest
improvisers
ASSSSCAT, the Upright Citizens Brigade's
improv juggernaut that has played
to critical acclaim and sold out audiences
in New York City for the past nine
years, has landed in Los Angeles.
So what exactly is ASSSSCAT? Well,
it starts with a group of improv comedians
currently working in film and television
taking the stage accompanied by PHIL
VARONE. We take a suggestion from
the audience, then the show begins.
Phil will share off-the-cuff thoughts,
feelings, and personal remembrances
inspired by the suggestion. The improvisers
in turn use this impromptu monologue
as fodder for a series of high octane,
balls-to-the-wall improvised sketches
that have made this show one of the
longest running improv shows in the
history of the world.

Hello,
We are looking to showcase a poet
and a performance artist on 04/09/2006
in Stoke-on-Trent. We were hoping
to acquire someone closer to home,
however a distinct lack of culture
around the afore-mentioned scuppers
any chance of this materialising.
Therefore if anyone has material or
an act that they wish to showcase
then please contacts us via email
and we will arrange something.
The performance will be alongside
filmmakers projecting avant garde/expressionist
films and two bands.

Thank you, kind regards Craig

June 27th is the release date of
the DVD for "Hail! Hail ! Rock
and Roll!" The film was ostensibly
about Chuck Berry. It also was the
beginning of Johnnie Johnson's
rise from obscurity. The film began
the process by which the public began
to learn the truth about Johnnie’s
role in the creation of the songs
credited to Chuck Berry, and in the
creation of Rock and Roll itself.
The public is still learning. There
is still a lot to tell, and a lot
more for people to learn about Johnnie
Johnson.
To honor Johnnie Johnson, on June
27th, Cousin Moe Music will begin
to offer free downloads of Johnnie's
last solo recording project, "Johnnie
Be Eighty! And Still Bad!". The
downloads will be available free until
July 8th. Johnnie’s date of birth.
The music will be available at our
website, www.cousinmoemusic.com
“Johnnie Be Eighty. And Still Bad!”
is a completely original project,
taped live in the studio to capture
the essence of a Johnnie Johnson performance.
As such it offers a unique perspective
on Johnnie’s collaborating and songwriting
contributions.
Please spread the word amongst your
friends, and throughout the music
community.

U.S ROCK LEGENDS TO PLAY NOTTINGHAM,
RESCUE ROOMS IN HAND FULL OF U.K DATES
THURSDAY 20TH JULY
Spanning three decades, Blue Öyster
Cult has a long and storied history.
The band got its start in the late
60s on Long Island, New York, as the
Soft White Underbelly, but each member
had been involved in bands previously
in high school and college, before
ending up in the “right place at the
right time” to create the beginnings
of Blue Öyster Cult. The band created
some of the most memorable, and most
listenable, metal music of the 70s.
Best known for the hit singles ‘(Don’t
Fear) the Reaper’ and ‘Burnin’ For
You’ the band were named after a poem
written by manager Sandy Pearlman
about a collection of aliens who had
collected to secretly steer Earth’s
history. Despite numerous line up
changes and recording contracts the
band have remained popular and well
loved for over 30 years. The group's
music reached a whole new generation
of hard rock fans when Metallica covered
the classic ‘Astronomy’ for their
best-selling ‘Garage Inc.’ album in
1998.

ROck n Roll night in Swindon

Hi all,
I wondered if any of you guys would
be interested in supporting a rock
n roll night in a "trendy"
club in Swindon? (It might help the
music to reach a new generation)
A friend if mine works in "the
apartment" in Swindon town centre
and has asked for my help getting
some support for a rock n roll night
they are organising. She is hoping
to have some people up and dancing
"in full dress" as she calls
it.
Most of my close friends don't
share my love of rock n roll so I
am appealing to fellow music lovers....
It's on Friday 16th June. The
band playing will be Sugar Creek who
I'm sure some of you will know.
For more info about the venue see
www.theapartmentuk.com or see www.sugarcreek.co.uk
for more about the band.
Look forward to seeing some of you
there....
Regards Lora

Lethal Bizzle
Lethal Bizzle is at the forefront
of new British music. With a stated
passion for rock music he consistently
delivers killer beats and lyrics.
Previous work has seen him spitting
rhymes with bands such as the The
Rakes and Babyshambles. We look forward
to the splendid rendition of his top
10 hit ‘Pow’, a track so dangerous
it was banned in clubs across the
country! This is your chance to catch
UK’s finest, up close and grimey...
http://www.lethalbizzle.co.uk
Larrikin Love
Moving effortlessly from reggae to
punk to indie-rock, it's hard
to pin down exactly what kind of music
fans Larrikin Love are trying to please.
It’s end of tour party time as the
lads take to the decks. Expect a frenetic
after show vibe, adoring fans and
an insight into what makes this band
tick.
http://www.larrikinlove.co.uk/
Kids In Tracksuits
Kids in Tracksuits perform live following
their explosive Steve Lamacq session
on Radio 1. These pesky kids consist
of two ridiculously young and talented
sample geeks playing loud and gloriously
twisted rock and hip hop. These mini
chemical bros must be seen to be believed.
http://www.kidsintracksuits.co.uk
Wandan (Beatboxer and MC)
Spending a large portion of his time
freaking out crowds of up to 7000
people, either on his jacks, as part
of Jazz/Hip Hop combo Lazy Habits,
with 3 times world champion turntablist
DJ Tigerstyle, Current UK DMC Champ
DJ Muzzell at various Jungle mash
ups with DJ D.B.H. or with his Berkshire
Brethrin Nine High. Wandan pops in
to get pranged, drink some Vodka and
test the new sound system.
http://www.wandan.co.uk
Plus Club NME DJS & Yesitsautobahn!
We'll try to get the live music
done by 11.30pm so those from the
South can negotiate the Thames. Oh,
and for for those who don't know,
Soundstage is a 350 Capacity venue,
five minutes from Kings Cross tube
and was famously the location of Madonna's
last video...

Check out the band Plunge, They are
a local band from Baltimore and they
are awesome. I saw them open for Kix
last Dec. and I fell in love with
them. They also do some really awesome
covers like Rebel Yell, Rock You Like
a Hurricane, and Rock and Roll All
Nite which they add a really cool
medley of classic rock songs in the
middle of it. They are really nice
guys to talk to also. Right now they
are currently playing for American

Guam, and Hawaii for a month. Here's

500,000 march for imigrants rights
- power to the people By www.wreckedband.com
on March 26, 2006 - 1:18pm.
Some time ago I worked in Bakersfield
CA hoeing cotton, tying grape vines,
and other work including working in
Oxnard CA picking oranges. You have
no idea what it is like in 120 degree
heat in Bakersfield, looking out on
a half mile row of cotton with a hoe
in your hand knowing that all day
everyday that is what you do. And
when lunch time comes around there
is no shade. Most of the time the
crew foreman don't even supply
a toilet for the men or women. In
Oxnard day in and day out picking
oranges for almost no pay. You pick
them by the piece and get paid almost
nothing for each one. I was always
amazed a the great nature of the Mexican
imigrants. Me and my 20 friends the
only Americans. I am telling you no
one, no white skinned, black skinned,
whatever color skin, citizen of this
country would and will do that kind
of work. But when you are poor and
desolate and your babies are starving
this work my friends is a blessing
from God. My point is the news media,
the government, most people were shocked
to see the amount of people that took
to the streets for this controversial
subject with both the democrats and
the republicans. Music for America
to me is a wonderful place where people
of conviction and artists like myself
can express themselves. I have been
advocating many times here the bringing
together of the sleeping giant (if
you read my older posts you will understand
what I am talking about) and a great
big rally in Washington this summer.
My suggestion is the weekend of the
4th of July, the biggest holiday week;
so it can be encourged not only to
attend the event but also enjoy several
days discovering the nations capital
with family and friends. The imigrant
protest yesterday had one issue and
look how many people took to the streets.
With so many issues Music for America
has, I am convinced that with the
proper ground work from volunteers
and an effective marketing campaign
we can get a million. Just a thought
I figured I would pass on and for
all of you that get annoyed at my
whie ebonics my lovely wife took the
time to type this for me. Peace, Richard
Hydell and Wrecked www.wreckedband.com

The Band'Stand // Learning For
Life Fundraiser @ The Spitz
The Spitz, 109 Commercial Street,
Old Spitalfields Market, London, E1,UK
- £6
The Band'Stand a Learning For
Life South Asian Earthquake fundraiser.
On March 5th 2006 upwards of eight
new and independent bands, musicians
and artists will be coming together
to take a stand and to raise funds
on behalf of Learning For Life. The
gig will take place at East London's
famous Spitz venue and with the bands
waiving any fee, all proceeds will
go to Learning For Life's Reconstruction
and Repair project. The project aims
to raise enough funds to rebuild the
24 schools lost in the recent South
Asia Earthquake and to build 16 more
by the end of 2006.
Up to 80,000 people have been killed,
at least 60,000 injured and 2.5 million
left homeless by the earthquake that
hit South Asia on Saturday 8 October.
It measured a devastating 7.6 on the
Richter scale. Children have been
the biggest casualties, making up
half the population of the affected
area. Many were crushed when schools
collapsed.
Learning for Life (LfL) has been working
directly with regional partners in
Afghanistan, India and Pakistan for
the last 11 years to provide education
and training in remote rural and mountainous
regions. In the 8th October earthquake,
24 LFL schools were destroyed. LFL
has over 1000 children and 27 teachers
attending these schools. This event
and others like it are aimed at raising
enough funds to rebuild all 24 schools
and one health centre.
The ArtMusicPolitic Co-op (amp) believes
music and art can be used to support
and spread awareness of the important
work NGOs carry out at home and around
the world.
Protest Recordings is a socially conscious
record label at the forefront of the
digital music revolution.
